Ada yang belum tahua apa itu sonnet? Secara sederhana, sonnet diartikan sebagai salah satu jenis puisi yang biasanya berisi 14 baris. Shakespeare sendiri telah menulis sekitar 154 sonnet, itupun belum termasuk sonnet yang ada dalam drama-drama karya beliau. Bisa lebih dari sekedar 154 saja dan hal tersebut membuat William Shakespeare disebut sebagai salah satu penulis sonnet terbaik di dunia.

Hi Readers kali ini saya akan memposting tentang salah satu pengarang novel jenius favorite saya yaitu Conan Doyle, beliau adalah sastrawan yang paling menginspiratif. Hingga hampir semua pernah mendengar tentang beliau, nah ini sedikit tentang beliau. check this out yaa :)

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle merupakan penulis berkebangsaan Inggris. Salah satu karyanya yang terkenal adalah tentang petualangan Sherlock Holmes, detektif fiktif yang terkenal dengan kemampuan deduksinya dan kepandaiannya dalam memecahkan berbagai kasus sulit yang tidak bisa dipecahkan polisi dan detektif lain. Novel Sherlock Holmes yang pertama kali diterbitkan pada akhir abad ke-19 masih digemari sampai sekarang. Bahkan dalam komik Detective Conan karya Aoyama Gosho, tokoh utamanya sangat mengidolakan Sherlock Holmes dan nama Conan Edogawa diambil dari nama sang pencipta novel ini.

Conan Doyle lahir pada tanggal 22 Mei 1859 di Edinburgh, Skotlandia dan meninggal pada Senin 7 Juli 1930. Sampai umur enam belas tahun Conan Doyle bersekolah di Stonyhurst sebelum belajar ilmu kedokteran di Universitas Edinburgh. Setelah membuka praktek kedokteran awalnya kehidupan Conan Doyle sangat susah karena dia hanya memiliki sangat sedikit pasien. Dia pun harus bekerja keras untuk memperoleh uang guna membiayai hidupnya. Karena memiliki banyak waktu luang ia lebih sering mengasah kemampuannya dalam menulis hingga beralih profesi dari dunia kedokteran menjadi penulis.

Selama di Edinburgh dia sangat terkesan dengan karakter salah satu guru disana, Dr. Joseph Bell. Conan Doyle mengagumi sang profesor karena kemampuannya dalam menarik kesimpulan meski tidak pernah bertemu sebelumnya. Diilhami dari dosennya tersebut maka Doyle menciptakan tokoh Sherlock Holmes.

Tokoh Sherlock Holmes diciptakannya Pada tahun 1886 dengan cerita berjudul A Study in Scarlet yang bukunya sudah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan judul Penelusuran Benang Merah. Sherlock Holmes baru dikenal secara luas saat diterbitkan dalam sebuah cerita secara bersambung dalam Majalah Strand pada tahun 1891. Kumpulan cerita tersebut lalu dikumpulkan dalam satu buku berjudul The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Petualangan Sherlock Holmes).

Tapi Doyle kemudian merasa bosan dengan karakter Sherlock Holmes, hingga dalam satu cerita Conan Doyle mengakhiri hidup Sherlock Holmes. Namun popularitas Sherlock Holmes di kalangan pembaca memaksa Conan Doyle untuk melanjutkan kembali cerita petualangan Sherlock Holmes.

Buku lain yang ia tulis selain novel Sherlock Holmes adalah tentang sejarah, serial fiksi ilmiah tentang Professor Challenger juga artikel-artikel berdasarkan pengalaman pribadi Conan Doyle selama mengalami Perang Boer dan Perang Dunia I. Selama perang Boer yang terjadi pada tahun 1899-1902 Conan Doyle menyumbang waktunya bekerja sebagai seorang dokter tentara di Afrika Selatan dan secara resmi hasil kerjanya di Afrika Selatan itu diakui oleh pemerintah Inggris sehingga dia dianugrahi gelar “SIR”.

Setelah kematian anak laki-lakinya Conan Doyle kemudian memperdalam minatnya yang lebih mendalam dalam hal-hal spiritual. Bukunya yang ter akhir tentang sejarah spiritual yang ditulis pada tahun 1926.

 

 

Fakta Menarik Tentang Conan Doyle

1. Arthur Conan Doyle adalah seorang dokter. Ia kuliah kedokteran di University of Edinburgh, dimana ia mulai menulis cerita di saat istirahat kuliah. Ketika ia membuka praktek sebagai dokter setelah lulus kuliah, ternyata prakteknya sepi. Coba tebak apa yang terjadi? Ia mulai menulis cerita dengan serius.
2. Setelah lulus dari kuliah kedokteran, Doyle bekerja sebagai dokter kapal dalam perjalanan ke Afrika Barat. 
3. A Study in Scarlet (Penelusuran Benang Merah) – novel pertama yang menceritakan pemecahan misteri oleh karakter Sherlock Holmes dipublikasikan pertama kali dalam Beeton’s Christmas Annual tahun 1887.
4. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle adalah seorang atlet, seperti karakter ciptaannya, Sherlock Holmes. Ia adalah seorang kiper di klub sepak bola di Ingris, namun mengubah namanya sehingga ia tidak akan dikenali karena karya-karya novelnya. Di akhir 30-40an, ia bermain dalam 10 pertandingan “first-class” cricket untuk Marylebone Cricket Club, bersama banyak pemain cricket profesional lainnya. Doyle ditunjuk sebagai kapten di tim golf pada usia 51 tahun. 
5. Apa yang terjadi jika J.K. Rowling membuat Harry Potter mati di buku ketiganya karena ia ingin menulis buku lain? Itulah yang dilakukan Doyle enam tahun setelah kemunculan pertama Sherlock Holmes. Pada cerita yang terbit di tahun 1893, The Final Problem, Sherlock Holmes terbunuh. Protes keras dari masyarakat memaksa Doyle menulis dan menghiduplan kembali Sherlock Holmes.
6. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle juga menulis puisi, novel sejarah, 6 seri novel berlatar Inggris saat Perang Dunia I, juga sebuah buku terkenal pada tahun 1912 berjudul The Lost World tentang dinosaurus dan hewan prasejarah yang hidup di sebuah pulau. Doyle juga menerjemahkan beberapa buku asing ke bahasa Inggris. 
7. Doyle ternyata berteman dengan pesulap legendaris Amerika, Harry Houdini. 
8. Seperti Holmes dalam kehidupan nyata, Doyle pernah membantu membebaskan dua pria yang dituduh telah membunuh dan melakukan kejahatan lainnya, dengan menginvestigasi kasus-kasus tersebut secara pribadi.
9. Di akhir-akhir kehidupannya, Doyle menjadi seorang spritualis yang percaya ia dapat menghubungi keluargadan temannya yang telah mati melalui sebuah 'medium'.

Tentang Serial Supernatural

hallo readers, kali ini postingan saya adalah tentang serial televisi favoritku. Supernatural pertama kali aku melihatnya di televisi bersama Ibuku dan langsung ketagihan sama serial televisi ini. hampir setiap hari aku dan ibuku mengikuti petualangan Dean dan Sam haha.. Aku sama ibuku ini memang selalu sehati kalo dalam selera film. Nah tokoh favoritku adalah Dean Wincherster yaah selain karena ganteng juga karena kami sama-sama anak pertama jadi aku langsung jatuh cinta oleh tokoh yang diperankan Jensen Ackles tersebut.

ok ini sedikit ulasan tentang Supernatural :

Serial Supernatural pertama kali ditayangkan di USA pada tahun 2005 lewat saluran televisi The WB Television Network (sekarang The CW Television Network) mengetengahkan kisah perjalanan dua orang abang adik keluarga Winchester dalam menghadapi berbagai kasus yang melibatkan hal-hal gaib. Keluarga Winchester adalah keluarga Hunter, dimana Hunter dalam serial ini merupakan profesi sukarela tanpa upah yang berpetualang keliling negeri dalam usahanya menyelidiki gejala-gejala supranatural dan membasminya bila mengganggu ketentraman masyarakat.
Dean Winchester adalah anak sulung dari pasangan John dan Mary Winchester yang memiliki karakter bergaya seenak perutnya, suka ngomong ceplas ceplos, perayu wanita, takut naik pesawat (jadi ingat B.A. dalam The A Team) dan yang paling menarik adalah hobi Dean yang tergila-gila pada musik Classic Rock (musik rock tahun 1970-an dan 80-an). Bertolak belakang dengan karakter adiknya Sam Winchester yang pendiam, teliti dan sering menganggap serius hal yang dianggap abangnya remeh. Ibu mereka Mary tewas ketika Sam masih berumur enam bulan akibat dibunuh setan bermata kuning dan sejak itu John mereka membawa kedua anaknya berpetualang mencari setan yang membunuh Mary sembari melatih Dean dan Sam berbagai keterampilan yang dibutuhkan seorang Hunter. Sejak kecil Dean dan Sam sudah dilatih keras oleh ayahnya untuk menjadi Hunter yang handal dari training menggunakan senjata api, ilmu bela diri tangan kosong hingga pengetahuan mengenai berbagai hal dunia gaib.
Akibat kehidupan nomaden sejak kecil, Dean dan Sam tumbuh besar sambil beradaptasi dengan gaya hidup Hunter. Bagi Dean, hidup sebagai Hunter terlihat bagaikan suatu petualangan mengasyikkan dan menjalaninya tanpa keluhan, malah Dean menganggapnya sebagai bisnis keluarga. Selain itu juga Dean masih menyimpan dendam yang sama seperti ayahnya terhadap setan bermata kuning yang telah membunuh ibunya, karena ketika ibunya tewas Dean telah berumur empat tahun dan melihat sendiri betapa ibunya tewas terpaku diatas langit-langit rumah. Berbeda dengan Sam yang masih bayi ketika ibunya tewas sehingga rasa dendamnya kurang mendalam. Selain itu juga bagi Sam yang serius, hidup sebagai Hunter membuat keinginannya melanjutkan sekolahnya semakin jauh dari harapan hingga pada akhirnya Sam bertengkar dengan ayahnya ketika Sam memutuskan untuk pergi ke Universitas Stanford mengejar impiannya masuk fakultas hukum.
Musim pertama serial ini mengisahkan sang ayah John menghilang tanpa kabar sehingga menyebabkan Dean terpaksa berkunjung ke Stanford dan mengajak Sam untuk ikut serta mencari ayahnya. Bukannya jejak sang ayah ditemukan, malah pacar Sam yang bernama Jessica tewas dengan kondisi yang sama dengan kematian Mary Winchester, yaitu terpaku dilangit-langit kamar lalu terbakar. Tak punya pilihan lain, Sam akhirnya mengikuti Dean sambil mencari jawaban mengapa Jessica mengalami nasib yang sama dengan ibunya bertahun-tahun yang lalu dengan harapan bila bertemu ayahnya, seluruh pertanyaan akan terjawab.
Serial ini dihiasi dengan kemunculan makhluk-makhluk supranatural baik yang jaman dulu maupun modern seperti arwah penasaran, Vampire, Werewolf, Zombie, Jin hingga makhluk gaib yang jarang didengar oleh telinga orang-orang Indonesia seperti Wendigo, Trickster, Rougarou dan Shapeshifter. Hobi berat Dean akan musik Classic Rock terpapar jelas pada beberapa hal yang menghiasi film ini. Misalnya saja banyak judul episode yang menggunakan judul lagu lawas yang pernah dibawakan oleh para grup Rock terkenal seperti Rolling Stone, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Metallica, Kansas dll, selain juga menampilkan lagu-lagu mereka disepanjang serial. Hal lain yang menjadi ciri khas adalah kebiasaan duo Winchester dalam menyamar (sebagai Dokter, agen FBI, pendeta, petugas asuransi, dll) dengan nama alias yang menggunakan nama personil Rocker seperti misalnya Dr. James Hetfield (nama vokalis Metallica), agen FBI Tyler dan Perry (anggota grup Aerosmith), Pendeta Father Simmons dan Frehley (anggota grup KISS), Detektif Page dan Plant (anggota grup Led Zeppelin), dll.
Hal yang membuat serial ini tetap menarik dan memiliki unsur ketegangan yang stabil adalah alur cerita yang memang telah dirancang dari awal dengan baik, sehingga cerita season dua, tiga dan empat masih menyambung dengan season-season sebelumnya. Sepertinya memang cerita utama sudah ditetapkan dari awal sehingga alurnya tetap berkelanjutan. Ditengah-tengah alur utama, barulah disisipkan beberapa kasus tambahan yang bertujuan memperkuat karakterisasi tokoh maupun menambah bumbu cerita utama. Menurut kabar, dari awalnya memang Eric Kripke sang kreator cerita telah menyiapkan serial Supernatural untuk diselesaikan dalam lima musim. Jika masih ada musim keenam, ada kemungkinan serial ini akan menjadi membosankan seperti kasus serial Smallville.
Selain itu juga hubungan dua karakter tokoh utama yang dibawakan oleh Jensen Ackles dan Jared Padalecki yang bertolak belakang sangat menarik, terutama ketika mereka berdua beradu argumen. Hubungan antara dua saudara ini menjadi salah satu daya tarik. Kita bisa melihat betapa hanya Dean yang dibiarkan Sam untuk memanggil dirinya Sammy (walaupun awalnya Sam agak enggan karena dengan demikian Dean terkesan masih menganggap Sam sebagai anak kecil). Unsur humor ditambahkan lewat karakter Dean yang sering bertingkah seenaknya , gaya hidup bebas dan selera humornya yang kasar dengan porsi yang cukup ngepas (kecuali dalam beberapa episode tertentu yang memang cenderung diarahkan ke genre komedi). Dengan semakin bertambahnya season, karakter tokoh perlahan-lahan mengalami perubahan yang cukup signifikan, dimana Dean terlihat semakin serius dan Sam menunjukan sisi gelap kepribadiannya. Hal ini wajar karena tuntutan cerita memang mengharuskan perubahan demikian. Beberapa karakter pendukung yang muncul dalam beberapa episode di setiap musim turut memeriahkan suasana, terutama tokoh-tokoh cewek yang muncul sebagai penghangat suasana ditengah gersangnya perjalanan Winchester Brothers dalam menghadapi makhluk supranatural. Tapi jangan disangka tokoh-tokoh cewek ini hanya sekedar tempelan, justru karakter mereka cukup kuat untuk menentukan arah jalan cerita selanjutnya.
Jika season pertama mengemukakan tema mencari ayah mereka yang menghilang tanpa kabar, season kedua lebih terfokus pada usaha mereka memburu setan mata kuning yang telah membunuh Mary Winchester. Season ketiga bercerita mengenai terbukanya pintu gerbang neraka (Devil’s Gate) oleh setan mata kuning sehingga menyebabkan banyak setan dalam neraka lepas ke dunia. Season keempat mengetengahkan alasan mengapa setan bermata kuning membunuh ibu Winchester Brothers dan juga alasan atas usaha setan mata kuning membuka Devil’s Gate. Musim keempat semakin menarik dengan kemunculan malaikat (angel of God) yang memiliki peran dan rencana mereka sendiri.
